The trade you are making
Square is easier to start and harder to leave, and the processing fee is the price of both. Bizsoftbiz cannot make card acceptance simpler than Square does — we are not a payment processor and hold no card data at all. What we do instead is stay out of the payment path entirely, so your existing merchant account, terminal and rates are unchanged and we take no share of your takings.
Where Square is plainly better
Getting started, hardware, offline mode, and the integrated payment experience. If any of those is your priority, take Square — this page is not going to talk you out of it.
Where Bizsoftbiz is
The back office. A real double-entry ledger rather than reporting, purchase orders through to goods receipt with weighted-average costing, receivables and payables with aging and statements, bank reconciliation, cheque printing, and a fixed asset register. That is the half of the business Square leaves to an integration.
Questions, answered
So how do customers pay me?
Exactly as they do now. Cash goes into the drawer and is reconciled at close; card and mobile are charged on the machine you already have, and the cashier records the amount against the sale so the tender split is right. Bizsoftbiz records payments, it does not process them.
